The Duchess of Cambridge’s style in 2021 between dreamy long dresses and super chic midi dresses
Elegant cuts, midi lengths, clean lines and references to the past. All accompanied by sophisticated bon ton hats. The ingredients of ‘Royal’ Daywear are not difficult to decipher, and following these rules Kate Middleton is always impeccable. But it is in the evening that she loves to amaze more, choosing elaborate long dresses and completing them with tiaras and precious jewels. Despite the pandemic, 2021 for Kate Middleton was full of events and official commitments, and she even returned to the red carpet. For these occasions, she chose important creations, some spectacular, others incredibly elegant and refined.
We remember, among all, the dress she chose for her first post-pandemic red carpet, organized for the London premiere of the James Bond film No Time to Die. It was a custom made long dress by Jenny Packham. Kate Middleton was truly ‘dressed in light’, an effect given by the transparency of the dress and the endless cascade of shiny applications – sequins, stones and crystals – that decorated it, almost as if to form a gold shell. The creation was characterized by a V-neck and a drape that highlighted the waist. A magical cape completed the ensemble.
For the Earthshot Prize, an award that every year chooses 5 projects designed to save the planet, Kate showed off a peplum dress by Alexander McQueen that she had already worn at the 2011 Baftas. The magnificent creation is characterized by a fluid fabric and draping, and is completed by a beautiful jewel belt.
Among the daytime looks, it is worth mentioning the midi dress she chose for Wimbledon: for the final she chose a refined pastel pink Beulah London dress, featuring balloon sleeves, shank buttons and a belt in tone on tone fabric. The day before, she wore another midi dress with a minimal and modern silhouette, in a bright green tone by Emilia Wickstead.
Finally, we can not fail to mention at least one of the creations signed Alessandra Rich, designer of whom Kate Middleton is a big fan. For the reopening of the V&A Museum, the Duchess chose a red dress from the Spring Summer 2020 season, featuring a houndstooth print and a pleated skirt. Other super chic details of the creation are the rounded collar and balloon sleeves.
