Photographs Show The True Beauty Of Maine Coons

The most majestic cats around, Maine Coons are a breed like no other. These fierce-looking felines are intelligent, friendly, and make excellent pets. Maine Coons are good with children, great with dogs and other cats, and fit in with almost any family.

A Special Breed

This special breed was first written about back in 1861. It’s been many, many years since that first record of Captain Jenks the Maine Coon cat. But, the breed remains a firm favorite.[1]

This photographer is in love with Maine Coons

Photographer Robert Sijka is no stranger to these fantastic, fluffy felines. Two of his biggest passions are the breed and taking photographs of them.[2] “I love photography and cats; I do my best to combine both those things as good as possible. My journey with cats photography began few years ago when my wife started to breed Maine Coons. Being around the cats and photographing them gives me a lot of joy”, said Robert Sijka.

Breeding Maine Coons

Robert, along with his family, moved to China over 14 years ago. His wife, Isabella, decided to start breeding Maine Coons. Roberts’s love for the breed only grew, and he was happy to be surrounded by the breed he loved again. The cattery is called OtiCami and is home to around 20 cats and kittens. “After a while, we started to miss the company of animals, they have always been in our lives. We fell in love with Maine Coons and my wife Izabella started a breeding program 8 years ago”, said Robert Sijka.

Speaking of when the first kitten was born in his wife’s breeding program, Robert says photographing these animals became his passion. [3] “I think my journey with photography started at this moment. I decided that my pictures must be something special, just like Maine Coons are special. After several thousands of photos, I ended up with my current style and great pleasure from working with these amazing animals”, said Robert Sijka. Luckily, thanks to living with so many of the animals, Robert can practice the art of taking photographs all the time. Taking pictures of cats is no easy feat! They are constantly moving around!

“I spent a lot of time perfecting my skills in capturing the beauty of cats”, said Robert Sijka. He went on to say, “My goal is to show different expressions and emotions flowing from the cat’s eyes. I prefer to use a simple background and light setting which complements the cat, nothing else”, said Robert Sijka.

“In my photographs I follow Albert Einstein’s maxim – Everything should be made as simple as possible, but not simpler”, stated Robert Sijka.
